Jim was an F-86 Sabre pilot with the 36th Fighter Bomber Squadron at Suwon Air Base known as K-13 in South Korea. He loved flying so much that he joined the Air Force as an Aviation Cadet in 1951. He served at Columbus AFB, Mississippi and Webb AFB, Texas before graduating. On June 19, 1953 while strafing trucks in North Korea he disappeared and was officially listed as Missing In Action. It was his 41st mission.
