    Joe is a Structures Engineer at Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems in Marietta, Georgia and has been employed there since graduating from school in February 1966. Joe graduated with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from North Carolina State University and received his MS from Georgia Tech (Aeronautical Engineering, Structures Option) in December 1978. From February 1966 through April 1978, Joe worked in Structural Basic & Fatigue Loads analyses on the C-130, C-141, and C-5 aircraft. In May 1978, Joe transferred to C-5A Fatigue/Fracture Mechanics computer program development for production of Maintenance Recommendation Reports based on fatigue and later fracture mechanics.

    In October 1980, Joe became an Engineering Program Planner assisting in the development and utilization of Lockheed Company Business Plans for past, current, and future Lockheed aircraft. After 2 years of not performing engineering program analysis, Joe returned to engineering in January 1983 in the C-5 Test Requirements Group in the development of fuselage component test spectra for C-5B/C-5A comparisons.

    Advanced Structures was next in 1991 where Joe was responsible for developing and documenting stress analysis and materials data for metals and to implement and update stress memo computer programs.

    Since 1996, Joe has been a Structures Engineer in the C-141 Stress Group being responsible for performing C-141 individual aircraft retirement analysis through developing and operating computer programs to scan and analyze data contained on forms received for each flight of each C-141 aircraft.

    Joe represented Lockheed in 1984 in the United Way Loaned Executive program and served on the United Way of Atlanta Board of Directors. The following two years, Joe served as Chairman for the Cobb County United Way for Individual Gifts.

    In 1989, Joe was awarded the Lockheed Georgia Company's first Certified Manager of the Year Award.

    From 1990-1996, Joe was the AIAA Region II Director after being the Region II Deputy Director of Finance from 1989-1990 and is still an Atlanta Section Booster and Region II Student Conference Coordinator. Prior Atlanta Section activities between 1983 and 1989 included Section Chair, RAC Representative, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Chairman, Council Member, Programs Chairman, Technical Symposium Member, and Booster. Joe was the 1986 Atlanta Section Member of the Year. Most recently, Joe was one of fourteen awarded the first "AIAA Sustained Service Award" for long-time AIAA service.

    Joe is a Georgia Registered Professional Engineer.
