    John DeLamater was born May 24, 1946 and began a distinguished career in aviation at 18 years old When he obtained his private certificate, He later became a commercial instrument rated pilot Instructor. Multiengine Land/Sea and Rotorcraft. He flew for Jacques Cousteau, flying a Hughes 500 Helicopter off of the research vessel Calypso, and flew a PBY Catalina Flying Boat for Cousteau. He joined Jet-Air, inc. as Director of operations and Chief Pilot in 1974 and remained there until 1986. He had also flown various Grumman amphibious aircraft for Chalk Airlines in Miami, and for Virgin Island Seaplanes in St. Croix. He was killed in a weather related accident flying a Cessna 441, Dec. 10, 2003.
