    John Fogelgren’s encounters with flight began in Washington, DC where as a boy he built and flew model airplanes. After high school in 1941, Mr. Fogelgren took government sponsored courses to prepare for work in the aircraft industry. At the same time he worked for Engineering Research Corporation, designers of the Ercoupe.
    Later he worked for Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown doing detailed drawings on the XAT 13 and 14, and XC82 experimental aircraft, AT21 twin-engine trainer and the C119 flying boxcar for which he designed the landing gear.
    During the early 1930s, Mr. Fogelgren was Administrative Engineer for Thiebolt Aircraft. Later, he co-founded American Research and Manufacturing Corporation which designed and produced products for the defense industry.
    Mr. Fogelgren still actively designs and develops mechanical and electrical products as well as writes novels and short stories.
