    John F. Botzer was born October 29, 1921 and learned to fly in the early 1940s. He bought a Piper Cub and flew it then.

    During World War II he worked at Bethlehem Steel on a steel lathe making cylinders for the big radial aircraft engines.

    In 1944 he joined the Navy and flew in TBF Avenger torpedo bombers. The war ended while he was still in training.

    He married his elementary school sweetheart in May 1945 and has three grown sons who all love and admire him.
