As a member of the USAAF during World War II, Master Sergeant John F. McCormick served as the NCOIC of a weather observation unit located in the Aleutian Islands. Following his active service, he became a science and math teacher in the public schools of Indiana. His lifelong interest in weather and aviation served to inspire several generations of students, to include his grandson, to pursue related careers.
