    Honored by:

    John H. Chapman, Jr., was a U.S. Navy pilot in WWII serving aboard the carrier, Shangri-La. He flew Corsair Fighter-Bombers in Squadron VBF-85; he was awarded a Navy Cross for his action inflicting heavy damage to a Japanese cruiser at Kure Harbor during July 1945. He was later shot down by ground fire, pitching in Lake Kasumigaura near Tokyo and was imprisoned at Ofuna.
    He maintained a lifelong interest in aviation.
