John H. DeRocher's, interest in aviation started when his parents took him to the local airport (early 1950's) to watch the small planes fly, when he was a young child. In John's latter grade school years he started making small wooden and plastic model airplanes, at home. Later he obtained a small gas-engine model aircraft that he flew at home in the yard. Then, in his High School years (1957) his neighbor gave John his first ride in a small single engine, Piper Cub, aircraft. John's aviation interests never left him so he took flying lessons and became a General Aviation Pilot by earning his Private Pilot's license on April 18, 1970. He continued his pilot education and qualifications by earning his Instrument Rating on August 9, 1984. John purchased his own aircraft, and has flown to 19 of the contiguous 48 States, landing at 87 different cities. John has flown 31 years for his personal pleasure, logging more than 2,800 Pilot-In-Command Flight Time Hours. He still flies for his personal pleasure as of this writing, August 7, 2001.
