    Honored by:

We wish to honor our son, John Houck, for his intense interest, perseverance and finally, his achievement of his life-long dream for a place in aviation. From an early age, John was interested in flying. He started his flying lessons at a young age and progressed up through his commercial license while serving his country as an Anti-submarine Warfare Operator. As he began his college career, he also became a single and multi-engine flight instructor. Midway through college, he obtained a Part 135 contract and flew bank receipts every night while attending school daily. Shortly after graduation with a degree in Business, John was hired by ComAir, where he spent time as a First Officer, building his hours. Finally the hoped for day arrived when we could all celebrate his being hired by Delta Air Lines. That was many years ago. John is now happily flying as Captain on the MD-80.
His Mother and I salute him, not only for his hard work and his flying achievements, but we are extremely proud of the fine man he has become. We think that having his name as part of the great Air and Space Museum will be a true honor for him for many years to come.
