    Honored by:

    Enlisted as a Private in the Army Air Corps in March, 1941. Graduated as a Staff Sergeant Pilot from Class 42F in June, 1942. Flew as a combat pilot in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Shot down by ground fire, and wounded twice in WWII, while dropping paratroops behind enemy lines, and again shot down and wounded in Vietnam as a helicopter rescue pilot Served as Staff Sergeant Pilot, Flight Officer, and thru the ranks until retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel on June, 1969. Employed as a Flight Instructor and Corporation Pilot between wars.

    Recalled to active duty in August, 1951 to fly the F-86A Sabre with the 81st Fighter Interceptor Group at Moses Lake, Washington. Flew my assigned plane - 078 -- across the North Atlantic in Fox Able 9, with the group. Stationed at Bentwaters, England and served a voluntary tour with the 4th Fighter Group, 335th Squadron at Kimpo airfield -- 33 missions. Returned to England and back to inactive duty in November, 1953.

    Built and flew a Pitts Special homebuilt acrobatic biplane as well as a homebuilt Ultralight after retirement.

    Combat decorations include the Silver Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Air Medal with 4 OLCs.

    Happily married, with two children. Enjoying retirement at Lewiston, Idaho.
    I can't claim any victories in Korea, but they didn't get me either and I'm sure I scared a few.
