Mr. Mark Carle Connelly
As an engineer for Grumman Aircraft, and later Grumman Aerospace, John J. Connelly contributed to the design of the Lunar Module, and the simulators used to train Apollo astronauts for their lunar missions. From 1957 to 1992, Mr. Connelly served as Engineer, Principal Engineer, and Head, Optics and Display group. He was responsible for numerous applications, patents, and theoretical advances in Defense programs, and cockpit displays. Among the aircraft and spacecraft systems he helped design were the Orbiting Astronomical Observatory (OAO); the A6A and E Intruder; the OV-1 Mohawk; the F-14 Tomcat; and the Dynamic Optical Alignment and Calibration System (DOACS) for the Strategic Defense Initiative.
