    Born October 18, 1920 on S.C. farm. Soloed Piper J-3 Cub, February 4, 1940, in first CPTP Class, at Clemson College. Flying Cadet in Army Air Corps, Class 41-B, March 14, 1941. B-29 pilot and airplane commander in first B-29 wing to enter WW II combat (677 Bomb Squadron, 444th Bomb Group, 58th Bomb Wing). First Chief of Flight Control Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, 1954-1958. Operational commander of the nation’s eyes and ears in space, 1965-1969, as Director of Program A of the National Reconnaissance Office. Communications Satellite Corporation, 1970-1981. Vice President, Engineering and Operations, Comsat General Corp.
