    John M. “Jack” Kearney has had a love affair with airplanes his entire life. At age eighteen, he joined the US Air Force for three years, working as Crew Chief on the P-51 Mustang and F-84 Thunderjet with the 20th Fighter Group, 79th Squadron, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. After leaving the service, he attended Williamsport Technical Institute and Wyoming Valley School of Aviation. In 1952 he was hired by Capital Airlines as a mechanic. He continued to work for Capital Airlines and then for United Airlines, after their merger, for 39 years until he retired in 1991. He has held a Private Pilot license since 1985.
