    John R. {"Jack") Gilchrist graduated from the University of Pittsburgh on February 3, 1956 and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force. He earned his pilots wings in 1957. Jack has flown the F-84F, the F-100, the F-4 and the F-15. He is a command pilot and master parachutist. He was an Air Liaison Officer with the Army at Fort Benning, Gerogia and went to Vietnam as a Forward Air Controller with the First Air Cavalry Division in 1965.

    He attended Squadron Officer School, Command and General Staff School, and the National War College.

    He has a Masters Degree in Political Science.

    Col Gilchrist was Commander of the 3rd Tactical Fighter Squadron, and Commander of the-6200 Tactical Training Group (Cope Thunder) at Clark Air Base in the Philippines. He was Vice Commander of the F-15 Wing at Luke Air Force Base.

    Col. Gilchrist retired as Chief of Staff for 12th Air Force at Bergstrom Air Force Base, Austin, Texas, and is a lifetime member of the Air Force Association and past President of the local chapter in Austin, Texas.
