Mr Wonsever has had a lifelong interest in aviation and space, beginning with building model aircraft and rockets before age 10. He soloed in a Piper J-3 Cub at age 16 and received his pilot's license at age 17.

Mr Wonsever has a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering and a master's in engineering administration. He has worked for National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for over 25 years, both at Goddard Space Flight Center and NASA Headquarters. He has contributed to the success of numerous earth orbiting and planetary space missions.
