Born on December 16, 1955, Joseph Christopher McCall was a family man, a Navy veteran and an upstanding county sheriff. “Joe” to his friends and family was loyal to his country, his community and God. Joe loved space and flight from a young age, marveling at all its wonder. Growing up during the space race and moon landings, Joe would recount to his daughters the first time he saw the moon landing. Joe had a lifelong love for the Apollo program and NASA. Loving husband to Lisa Marie, devoted father to Kristin Michelle and Tricia Marie. Joe served his community for 27 years in the sheriff’s department, retiring honorably and with his head held high as corporal. Joe touched the lives of everyone he encountered, had a big heart and a big personality. Joe had a love of baseball, jazz and his grandson Joey. Joe has gone home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. However, his love of space and aeronautics lives on through his daughters Kristin and Tricia, who frequently visit NASA and live on with his honor. All the way around the world, dad.
