Joseph A. Morales was born in Canton, Ohio November 12, 1930. September 1948 - August 1952 U.S. Air Force. Successfully completed Aircraft and Engine Maintenance Schools for both Conventional and Jet aircraft for Crew Chief certification. Upon completion was assigned to the Proving Ground Command, Eglin AFB, Florida. Participated in:
(1) Nuclear weapons test Project Green House (1951) Marshall Islands in the Pacific
(2) Nuclear weapons test Tumbler/Snapper (1952) in Nevada. Honorably discharged at Holloman AFB, New Mexico, August of 1952.
September of 1952 joined Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation in Bethpage, NY as an Experimental Flight Test Aircraft & Maintenance Mechanic and subsequently held numerous positions during his 35-year career with Grumman. 1955 -1963 Flight Test Instrumentation Engineering on various Programs.
1) A-6 Intruder test programs in Calverton, NY
2) F-l 1 Flight Performance Program at Patuxent Naval Air Station, MD
3) F9F-7P Photographic Aircraft Carrier Suitability Program at Patuxent Naval Air Station, MD
4) Grumman Gulf Stream GI Corporate Aircraft Flight Test Program.
1963 - 1964 Project Engineer assigned to the Apollo Lunar Module Program defining
Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Instrumentation requirements including the Lunar
Module Propulsion Test Data Acquisition System (DAS) for the White Sands Test
Facilities, performed related on-site Facilities Activation and Engineering Operational
Management.
1965-1973 Kennedy Space Center, FL, Apollo/Lunar Module Program, responsible for
the site activation of the GSE Calibration Facilities, Operational Management of the
ground support equipment Instrumentation Calibration and Periodic Maintenance
activities.
1973-1975 F-14 Tomcat Operational Flight Trainer (OFT), Project Engineer, Activation
and Support at NAS Miramar, CA and NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA.
1975 - 1978 Iranian Air Force F-14 Program, Khatami AFB, Isfahan, Iran. Project
Engineer, activation of the F-14 Operational Flight Training and Maintenance Training
Facilities and the Avionics Equipment Maintenance Facility, assigned related Operational
Management responsibility.
1978 - 1981 Program Management for Avionics Development Programs for Grumman
Great River Operations, New York. Retired in 1981 after 29 years of service.
1981 - 1983 Martin Marietta, Missile Systems, Orlando, Florida: Test Project Engineer
adapting the Ground Launched Assault Breaker Missile for U.S.A.F. Air Launch
operational capability.
1983 -1986 Grumman Technical Services Inc., NASA Shuttle Program at Kennedy Space
Center, FL as Deputy Director of Instrumentation, Measurement and Calibration.
Transferred to Grumman Aerospace Corporation in New York after the Challenger
accident in 1986 and continued to work on other non-Aerospace related Program
Management activities until final retirement in 1990.
Personal: Married Beatrice Pujazon on June 27, 1953, has four children, eight Grand
children. Education, High School, Equivalent 3 years College
