    Honored by:

After serving in the Army Air Corps in World War II, Joe attended Stevens Institute of Technology on the GI Bill, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then worked in the early years of the jet age, contributing to the design of the Westinghouse J-47 jet engine. Moving on to All American Engineering Co., his design engineering covered arresting gear for jet aircraft and reentry vehicles which brought his career into the space age. When asked what the most interesting project during his lifetime of engineering, Joe sites his work on the Biosattellite II for General Electric. He was responsible for the design and implementation for the systems that kept insects, frog eggs, microorganisms and plants alive from the time they were loaded in the capsule until launch. The Biosattelilite II was a successful radiation experiment in microgravity.
We, the family of Joseph P. Spindler, acknowledge his contributions to the field of aerospace technology. His journeyed, along with many, whose collective small steps lead to the giant leap for mankind.
