Mr. Ron Pittner
My father’s hero was Charles Lindbergh. He realized his boyhood dream of flying airplanes on April 17, 1938 at Mines Field in Los Angeles when he received his solo pilot license. He flew Cubs, Wacos, Ryans, Stearmans, etc.
He could not get into the USAAF during the War because he wore glasses. He flew for the Civil Air Patrol and worked his entire life in the aircraft industry for Douglas and Lockheed.
He gave me my love of airplanes and the dram of flight.
