    He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an Ordnanceman and worked on Norden bombsights. Later he served in a Naval Air Reserve Patrol Squadron during the Korean War. His main hobby has been the designing, building and flying of model aircraft of all types, such as both hand-launch and towline gliders, freeflight, control line and radio control. He has been the contest coordinator and director for two control line and three radio control model aircraft clubs. He has been a member of the American Model Association for more than 30 years. He has been responsible for the training and encouraging of many people to participate in the pastime of model aircraft building and flying. His career was with the Federal Government which began as an Instrument Mechanic and later an Operations Analyst, for the Naval Air Rework Facility for more than 30 years.
