A private pilot with over 2000 flight hours, Kate Macario has been a supporter of aviation her entire life. A member of Amelia Earhart’s organization, the “99s” since 1955. She served as President of the Eastern PA Chapter and Governor of the Mid-Atlantic Section. From 1960-65, she operated Macario Airport. She chaired a terminus of the Powder Puff Derby in 1976, and has run the Philadelphia area’s “Pennies a Pound” since 1976. Kate has assisted in the restoration of many antique and classic aircraft, including a Pitcairn PA-5 Mailwing, and a Ryan PT-22. In 1999, she was honored with the international President’s Award.
