Born MO 1915. Went to Washington to study accounting, while living with relatives. Then hired to work for the General Accounting Office. Transferred to the Civil Aeronautics Administration working first in Washington, then as a ground school administrator in NC, setting up ground schools at colleges and universities in the South as part of the Civilian Pilot Training Program. His final position with the agency was regional coordinator in Atlanta, in what was then called the War Training Service Flight Training Program.

Had a private pilot and commercial license. Organized flying clubs in Washington and Missouri. Taught some members who were later hired to work for national airline companies. Coba Overman was a member also and they married in 1940. See her profile.

Went into the Navy in 1944.
