    Kevin Joseph Mahar (1941- )
    Born in New York City; resident of Vienna, Virginia. Aviation enthusiast from early childhood. Took first airplane ride in a Piper Pacer from Flushing Airport in New York City with a World War I pilot in the Mid 1950s circling the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. Began flying lessons at age 15 years in a Piper Cub J-3 at Flushing Airport. Soloed at age 17 years in a Luscombe at Middlebury Airport, Vermont.
    Military Service 1964-1968. Captain USAF. Aircraft Maintenance Officer in the Strategic Air Command (SAC) at Loring Air Force Base, Limestone, Maine for B-52 and KC-135 aircraft during the Vietnam War. Obtained private pilot's license through Aero Club at Loring AFB. Subsequently obtained a commercial pilot's license with the following ratings: airplane single engine land (ASEL), Airplane multi-engine land (AMEL) and instrument rating.
    Lifelong general aviation pilot and Cessna 150 owner based at Leesburg Airport, Virginia. Regularly explores the skies from Virginia to Vermont. Also enjoys astronomy and astrophotography.
