    MSgt Larry Bower was an Illuminator Operator on AC-130 Spectre gunships with the 16th Special Operations Squadron. He entered the USAF in 1968 and retired in 1994. He flew over 200 combat missions. His awards include:
    Silver Star
    5 Distinguished Flying Crosses
    15 Air Medals.

    In 1990 his crew won the Mackay Trophy for outstanding airmanship in "Operation Just Cause" in Panama.

    He worked for Piper Aircraft in the late 1970s and early 1980s in experimental flight test and holds a Federal Aviation Administration Commercial, Instrument, and Multi-engine pilot ratings.
