Captain Larry V. Zettwoch's aviation career spans 41 years, beginning with Air Force pilot training at Williams AFB, then 14 years of Kentucky Air National Guard flying and 34 years with Piedmont Airlines and US Airways. With the Kentucky Guard, Larry flew the T-33, RF-101 and RF-4C. He is proud to have flown the single seat RF101 for three years and accumulated 1000 hours of J-79 time in the RF-4C. With Piedmont Airlines, he flew the YS-11, B737, and the B727. The YS-11 was the first big straight wing aircraft he flew. He checked out as Captain in 1982 on the B737. At US Airways he flew the B737, B757 and the B767 as Captain. His favorite commercial aircraft was the B757, which he flew to the Caribbean later in his career. He was known as one of the "Pilots of the Caribbean" at US Airways. He obtained the rank of Lt. Col. in the Kentucky Guard as a Flight Commander. Later with the Air Force Reserves, he made Colonel as a Director of the Kentucky ALO Program. He retired from commercial flying December 27, 2012 with over 21,500 hours of flying time.
