Larry Schumacher is honored to be a part of the Wall of Honor at the National Air and Space Museum.

Larry is a carpenter, and was working in the trade as a Carpenter Superintendent when in 1964, with a partner launched the company that would become Schumacher Dugan Construction in his garage. He is the President and owner, and founder of Schumacher Dugan Construction a General Contracting and Land Development business located in West Chester, Ohio.

He maintains his same entrepreneurial spirit and “hands-on” approach still today that built the company over 50 years ago, while making it a point to be involved in virtually every project.

In addition to the construction business Larry is an active participant in local non-profit organizations, The Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, West Chester Community Improvement Corporation, NAIOP. He has also served on the Board of Directors of Center Bank in Clermont County, Ohio. The local Chamber of Commerce honored Larry in the initial class of Honorees of the Everest Award for business leadership and as Union Township’s Chamber Business Person of the Year.

Aside from business, Larry has a high enthusiasm for flying and racing cars.

Over 30+ year highly successful sports car racing career, Larry has driven some of the world’s most famous tracks, including Daytona, Sebring, LeMans France, Laguna Seca, Road to Atlanta and Watkins Glen, won the Professional Sports Car National Championship in 1996, 1997 and 1998.

Flying is a passion that Larry enjoys to this day. Receiving his pilots license in 2005 he purchased his first plane, a 2004 Lancair 350 LC42-550FG. In 2008, he purchased a 2008 Piper Malibu Matrix PA46R-350T, then in 2009 purchased a 2009 Piper Meridian PA46-500T and his next purchase was a 2009 PA46-350P Piper Mirage that he owns today.

The plane is housed in a 13,000 SF hangar constructed by his own construction company in 2008, located at Butler County Regional Airport (KHAO), Fairfield, Ohio.

Larry has flown coast to coast and north to south in the United States. He and his wife have flown excursions with Air Journey, he flies to race tracks, secondary homes and vacation destinations. He has taken friends to other states/cities just for lunch, flown to MMOPA conventions and car shows. He loves the freedom flying gives him to explore at his leisure.

The flying enthusiasm is also reflected in his many memberships; MMOPA, AOPA, NBAA EAA, United Flying Octogenarians and subscriber and reader of Air & Space magazine which he also gives to friends as gifts.

Larry and his wife Mary have been married for 60 years and have four children and ten grandchildren.
