    Larry Sohler was one of the early aviation enthusiasts in Minnesota during the 1920s. He was a civilian instructor for the Amy Air Force during World War II (WWII). Using his own plane, he carried men and supplies during the construction of the Alaskan-Canadian Highway.

    His lasting contribution to aviation was the work he did for the U.S. Forest Service in developing techniques for supplying forest fire fighters. He was instrumental in development of the Air Branch of the U.S. Forest Service.
