    Mr. Eichorn was born in Miles City, MT on January 15, 1917, and was a graduate of the University of Montana. During World War II, he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Army Air Force and served in the China-Burma-India Theater. Lt. Eichorn piloted Douglas C-47's and Curtiss C-46's flying "The Hump", with the 10th Air Force, 1st Combat Cargo Group nicknamed "The Great SNAFU Fleet". During his tour of duty, Lt. Eichorn was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses and four Air Medals.
    Returning to the states after the war he continued serving the public as an employee of the General Accounting Office in Washington and later as an auditor for the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Eichorn retired from public service in the 1970s as an accountant with the Civil Service Commission. He began a second career in the private sector working as a systems analyst with Planning Research Corporation.
    Mr. Eichorn was actively involved with the14th Air Force Association, Montana State Society, Washington Officers Service Club, and Toastmasters International in Washington.
    Mr. Eichorn passed away on August 17, 2002, and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
