In October 1965, Plie Mi, Vietnam came under siege by 2000 to 3000 Vietcong and North Vietnamese regulars. The US forces had been cut off for about 12 or 13 days. Everything was in short supply. On October 23, 1965 we were called on to drop supplies. When arriving in the area ground fire was extremely heavy and we were called off and diverted into Plieku to wait for dark. After sun down we went back in, flying low, and dropped supplies where there were lighted flares. All crew members were volunteers.
