Leo Savage was born in Iowa in 1928 and had a life long interest in aviation.
He served in the US Air Force from December 1950 to December 1954 and attained the rank of Airman 1st Class.
While serving at Luke AFB he was chosen to be a member of the first Thunderbirds team where he was a crew chief on an F84G from May 1953 until his discharge from the Air Force in 1954. Leo was immensely proud of being a member of the Thunderbirds team.
