Leota Faye Fails was a member of the Women’s Airforce Service Pilots in World War II. She flew cargo coast to coast, delivering needed supplies. She learned to fly in the fields near the family farm in Southwest Oklahoma.
After the war, she went on to get a B.A. and M.A. She eventually taught elementary school for nearly 40 years. When she taught the alphabet “A” was for airplane and she would spend time telling the students about flying and serving your country.
