    - FAA Chief of Kansas City office, 1968
    - FAA Great Lakes Regional Office Flight Standards Specialist, Chicago; retired April 21, 1991.
    - Married June 27, 1942, to Marjorie Bernadine Cooling, Dubuque, Iowa. Five children, James E. Cooling, Judith Ann Kuhlmann, Thomas J. Cooling, Carol Lynn Cooling-Kopp, and Kimberly Sue Roberts and eleven grandchildren and one St. Bernard dog (Yogi).
