Born in February 1923, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. In 1949 he received a BS degree from Maryland University and joined Boeing Airplane Co. Following service at ERCO, he became Assistant Project Engineer at Flight Refueling Inc. Later he served as head of the System Evaluation branch at NASA-GSFC. Joining Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab., he served successfully as Group Supervisor, Branch Supervisor, and Assistant Head, Space Department. He managed the GEOSAT-C, SEASAT and MAGSAT spacecraft projects.
