At NACA and later NASA, the honoree was involved with aircraft gas turbine engines. After 13 years at NACA Langley and Lewis working on internal aerodynamics and turbo machinery, the honoree moved to GE Aircraft Engines in Cincinnati where he designed the aft fan for GE's first fan engine, the CJ805-23 (and the aft fan CF700 small J85 based turbofan. Career included a total of 20 years at GE, 6 !/2 years at Garret Air Research (LA), two years at Pratt & Whitney, and 15 years at NACA (including the last two years at NASA Washington, DC) all on the various aspects of flight propulsion.
