    His career in the field of aeronautical research with NASA and the Army has spanned more than 35 years. His expertise in flight controls has led to key roles in several experimental aircraft and conceptual design projects, mostly in the area of rotorcraft and vertical lift. Specific aircraft projects include the X-14B jet lift VTOL, the X-Wing, and the Canard Rotor Wing (CRW). His research includes numerous studies with helicopter, tilt rotor, and tilt wing designs.
    Mr. Corliss' most recent projects include the highly successful X-36 tailless agile research aircraft, and a Mars Airplane design for possible flight on the centennial of manned flight.
