    The oldest son of the WWII Five-Star Family, 1LT Joseph Charles Picard, Sr., distinguished himself through his heroic missions aspired by his passion for flight. His intense enthusiasm inspired him to engage in an aviation pilot program that proved beneficial during the Second World War effort. He exemplified courage in the face of danger by undertaking missions vital to the sustainment, conquests, survivability, and search and rescue operations of casualties of war. The flight experience inspired him to advance his aviation aspirations and become a highly skilled flight instructor and pilot. He broadened his interest toward modernization of aviation and space exploration and endearingly shared his knowledge and skills with upcoming generations and enthusiasts. His extraordinary influence inspired his wife, Constance Jeanette Picard I, to actively engage in flight exploration, exemplified by her involvement in support of combat missions during WWII, and furthering her interests through other flight endeavors. Their passion for flight and space exploration inspired their daughter, Constance Jeanette Picard II, who aspired to be an astronaut.

    1LT Joseph Charles Picard, Sr. and Constance Jeanette Picard were greatly admired and revered for their enthusiasm, support, and inspiration to others. They embraced the benefits of advancements in aviation and space exploration as one of the most important aspects of the future. Their legacy in pioneering dynamic interests in the magnitude of aviation and space exploration will live in the minds and hearts of those they touched. 1LT Joseph C. Picard, Sr. and Constance Jeanette Picard proudly and firmly trusted in their beliefs in aviation and space exploration and endeared every moment of their diverse passion for flight.
    1LT Joseph C. Picard, Sr. and Constance Jeanette Picard had a zest for life and considered their 91 and 86 years of life respectively still too short to personally experience and enjoy the dynamics of flight.
