Lowell Observatory, founded by Percival Lowell in 1894, is where first evidence that the universe is expanding was discovered. In the area of planetary science, it is where planet Pluto was discovered in 1930 and where the rings of Uranus were discovered, in part, in 1977.

The Apollo 11 astronauts came to Lowell Observatory before they left on their journey to the Moon -- they looked through the historic Clark Telescope, one of America's National Treasures, to see their destination.

Today Lowell Observatory is still discovering our universe while educating the general public through daily tours.
