    1896-1985.

    Electronics engineering student. Volunteer, commissioned in the Imperial Russian Air Corps 1916.

    As pilot-bombardier destroyed German ammo train. Came too close to train, explosions damaged plane. Able to crash land; broke arm. Able to hide in woods and walk back to own lines.

    1935-1940. He designed and produced automatic cameras and photo guns for Latvian Air Force. Cameras were superior to French and German cameras then used by Latvians. In the ~1938 photo on the right, a Lielbriedis gun camera is circled on this VEF I-12 aircraft.

    In June 17, 1940 the Soviets occupied Latvia. His facilities and plant were expropriated.
