    Lt. Casadio served with the U.S. Army 135th Assault Helicopter Company. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross on November 18, 1967 while serving as the Aircraft Commander of an armed helicopter during a mission in Vietnam. The 135th AHC was the only "Experimental Military Unit" in Vietnam, consisting of the Royal Australian Navy and the U.S. Army. The 135th AHC was a fully recognized unit and Lt. Casadio was one of 2 Royal Australian Navy officers to be awarded the DFC. Lt. Casadio was KIA on August 21, 1968.
