    Member of the Flying Tigers, 16th Fighter Squadron, China Air Task Force, 14th Air Force, China, World War II from June 1942 through October 1943. Flew a P-40 off the aircraft carrier USS Ranger, flying across Africa to China. Flew full service fighter missions for General Chennault, including escorting bombers, strafing, dive bombing, skip bombing, reconnaissance, and air-to-air combat. Credited with victories over two Betty bombers and one fighter. Logged approximately 530 hours flying P-40s in China.

    Left active duty as a Major. Retired as a LtCol after 23 years combined active and reserve duty.
