    Honored by:
    Mr. Scott D. Craig

Born in San Antonio, Texas on April 27, 1919 George Eph Craig grew up in the Southern California area. Inspired by the book "We" written by Charles Lindbergh in 1927, George always wanted to fly. Following his dream, he joined the Army soon after the attack on Pearl Harbor and learned to fly in a biplane.

Transferred to the Army Air Forces, he flew C-47 transports in the Pacific Theater during World War II. In one interesting moment during his deployment in the Pacific, LtCol Craig sat down at lunch one day to find himself next to his older brother, whom he wasn't aware was even stationed on the same island.

George left active duty after the war in 1945, but stayed in the reserves. Called back into active duty for the Korean War, he flew reconnaissance missions in F-80s. Although he left active duty again after Korea, George stayed in the reserves until age 70 when he retired on April 27, 1979 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Outside his military service, George Craig worked for the Alhambra Steel Foundry for 47 years, retiring as the Chairman of the Board. Proud of his many military awards and medals, LtCol Craig was also a loving husband and father of two, a son and daughter.
