    Lieutenant Colonel Goodwin G. Littig, was in pilot class 1943E. He was rated Command Pilot in 1958, and he accumulated over 1,000 flying hours as a multi-engine pilot with the 9th Air Force and Air Transport Command in the European Theater of Operations during World War II from July 10, 1944 to November 1945. He flew aircraft returning evaders and escapees from Stockholm, Sweden and Madrid, Spain back to England during October and November 1944.

    LtCol Littig was pilot of the airplane which flew the first group of American journalists from Paris to Dachau, the German Nazi concentration camp near Munich, Germany on or about May 4,1945. He served as a pilot of the Berlin Airlift during May, June, and July 1949. He continued his flying career until 1965 including service in the Korean War and he retired from active duty in May 1967.
