    He was Commissioned 12 June 1955 through ROTC at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He entered Active duty 10 January 1956 and attended Undergraduate Pilot training (Class 57-I) beginning February 1956, graduating February 1957. After 25 years of active duty service he retired 1 March 1981.
    During his active duty service, Col Hunt logged 4240 hours in the following airplanes: PA-18, T-6G, T-33, F94C, F89J, C-47 (Co Pilot), T-37, T-38, RF-101, RF-4C, T-39, O2A.
    During the Vietnam War, based at Udorn Royal Thai Air Base, Thailand, Major Hunt flew 100 missions over North Vietnam.
    His awards and decorations include: Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal (2 clusters), Air Medal (10 clusters), Army Commendation Medal, Air Force Combat Ready Medal, National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Korean Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal.
    Col. Hunt lived his retirement years in Sumter, South Carolina.
