    Honored by:

    * Served 11 years active duty and 17 years in the Air Force Reserves.
    * Instructor in general aviation/glider training program.
    * In England, went to Pathfinder Pilot training school and became a Pathfinder Pilot.
    * On June 6, 1944, flew fourth plane to drop homing equipped troops on north shore of Cherbourg Peninsula. Thereafter, flew daily missions (40 or more) supplying fighting troops and taking injured troops back to hospitals in England.
    * In Rome, assisted in training and development of Loran.
    * Returned to England and served as squadron commander.
    * On December 26, 1944, led supply mission to the encircled troops at Bastogne. Lost half of squadron and made an emergency landing of his damaged plane in France.
    * In August 1946 returned to US and became an Air Force meteorologist and pilot.
    * Went on Air Force Reserve status in May 1950.
