A 22-year Air Force Veteran, Lt. Col. McSherry is an actual honest-to-God rocket scientist.
An aeronautical engineer, he worked on the X-7 at Holloman AFB, as well as various other rocket and missile programs in New Mexico and Utah. Next, he was assigned to SMSO (Space Military Systems Operations) in Los Angeles. Then in 1974, he was relocated to Houston to work on the Space Shuttle Program, which he was involved with in varying capacities until his retirement in 1999.
