K.C. Growe first soloed in a PT-19 in 1942 as an aviation cadet in the U.S. Army class 43-E. He served as a pilot during World War II and Korea and as a senior pilot with the California Air National Guard. he flew 20 different type aircraft including both prop driven and jets, transports, bombers, and fighters.
