Col. and Mrs. L. Dean Kirk

He coordinated the first-ever Cobra helicopter WSEP for a USMC unit that employed AIM-9M missiles against a QF-106 drone. He also engineered the first combined Combat Archer-Combat Hammer missions. These missions combined the air-to-air and air-to-ground WSEPs and created a synergy between the two programs that promised significant cost savings. In 1998, Kevin was assigned to a remote tour as the commander of Beni Suef Air Base's Peace Vector II unit. This unit comprised of active duty and civilian personnel provided training and support to Egyptian Air Force personnel at Beni Suef Air Base. While there Kevin inspired several improvements in facilities and fostered an unprecedented spirit of cooperation between the local unit and the American contingent. His success enabled the US to station a Marine tanker unit at Beni Suef for a week to support potential Noncombatant Evacuation Operations from the Middle East. He even ended up with a softball field being named in his honor. Kevin retired from active duty on 31 July 1999 after 20 years of service.
On 1 November 1999 Kevin was hired by Analytical Services, Inc. to work for Air Force Acquisitions Special Programs Directorate as a security policy analyst. The interesting part of this is that his resume reached the guy that hired him via a contact with a soccer parent of one of the girls on Catherine's soccer team. One weekend he passed it to him, and it got to the right guy. Talk about lucky! In February 2001 Kevin changed employers to Jacobs-Sverdrup Company when his prior employer lost his government contract to provide support contractors for Air Force Acquisition. Kevin still works in the job.
Kevin married Lisa M. Gramp on June 14, 1980. They have three children—Matthew, Catherine and Jennifer.
