    Lt. Col. Charles W. Walter (Retired) was born August 26th, 1933. He graduated from Bunker Hill, Illinois High School in 1951 and from Southern Illinois University in 1955, and received an AFROTC commission. He retired in May 1977 after a 4 year tour as a Logistics Staff Officer on the Air Staff at HQ USAF at the Pentagon. His military decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, and awards of Master Navigator and Master Missileman Badge. Assignments included: Navigation School at Ellington AFB, TX; 5900 plus hours flying as a Navigator (EC-121), 965th AEW&C SQ, McClellan AFB, CA; 966th AEW&C SQ McCoy AFB, FL; 554th Recon SQ (EC-121R - 980 combat hours), Korat RTAFB, Thailand; Missile Maintenance Officer (Mace B Tactical), Bitburg AB, Germany; (Jupitor - munitions controller), Taranto, Italy; (Bomarc B Air Defense), Niagara Falls, NY; Logistics, Division Chief Logistics Plans HQ 15th AF, March AFB, CA; Branch Chief Logistics Plans, HQ USAF. Professional Education: Squadron Officer School; Armed Forces Staff College, Norfolk, VA; Masters in Logistics Management, AFIT, Wright Patterson AFB, OH.
