    Mr. Kevin Kyle

LtCol Theodore Kyle of West Linn, Ore., is a decorated member of the Civil Air Patrol and an award-winning aerospace educator. In his early teens, Theodore joined the Civil Air Patrol in Ashland, Oregon, where he earned the Amelia Earhart award upon attaining the grade of Cadet Captain, and participated in the International Air Cadet Exchange. Doing yard work during the summer, he earned enough money to obtain his private pilot license. He maintained his passion for aviation throughout his career as a civil engineer, rejoining the Civil Air Patrol as a Senior Member in 1991.

In 1993, he developed a way to teach cadets about leadership, management, communications, and aerospace by creating a role-playing simulation in which cadets undertake all of the preparations for the launch of the space shuttle. In 2000 he decided to take this role-playing simulation to the computer. Using his own resources and time, he created a full scope simulation, "Cap Flight 2000," which he provides free to anyone wishing to use it for aerospace education.

CAP Flight 2000 is a multiplayer simulation of the space shuttle. It provides simulation modules for the shuttle and mission control. The simulation is designed to allow a group of people to experience the teamwork environment needed to successfully fly the space shuttle. Players can assume the roles of spacecraft commander, flight director, mission controller, flight engineer, or any one of 10 jobs. However, they must work together to solve any problems that might jeopardize the successful flight.

Presently LtCol Kyle serves as the Civil Air Patrol, Oregon Wing Chief of Staff. He continues to develop CAP Flight 2000, for which he received the National Brewer Award for Aerospace Education.
