    Lt. Donald Huntoon was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on July 26, 1923 and grew up in Des Moines, IA. He was sworn into the Army Air Corps November 17, 1942. His preflight school was in Santa Ana, CA and primary pilot training in Hemet, CA. Other Army Air Bases in the US include Marana, AZ, Ft Meyers and Boca Raton, FL, Fresno and Hamilton Field, CA. During World War II he served in the Pacific Theater with the 421st and 419th NFS. He was stationed on several islands including Middleburg, Morotai, Leyte, Mindano and Palawan. Lt Huntoon also served during the Korean War at Keesler AFB, MS, Tyndall AFB, FL, and McChord AFB, WA. He resides today in Des Moines, IA where he enjoys his grandchildren, swimming and traveling in his motor home.
